Former Bryant College basketball player Christopher Simmons was arrested and an active player suspended for their alleged involvement in a gambling ring at Rhode Island colleges.
Simmons, a senior from Wall, N.J., was charged with one count each of bookmaking and organized criminal gambling, Rhode Island State Police Lt. Theodore Kidd said.
College spokesman Jack Oldham said the college also had suspended a member of the team, but would not identify him.
