Glendale : KMEX Reinstatement Urged
In the wake of widespread protests, the City Council on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution urging that the popular Spanish-language television station KMEX be reinstated on the local cable system, Sammons Communications.
Although the council has no power over the private cable company, members formally asked that two of the 40 channels provided by the company be used for Latino programming.
Sammons replaced KMEX with a Glendale Spanish-language station, KVEA, after city officials earlier this year lobbied for the local station. Sammons officials have said they can accommodate only one Spanish-language channel.
