Escondido police arrested three juveniles in connection with a string of robberies, including robbing at gunpoint the car of an off-duty detective in North Park on Wednesday night, said Bill Robinson, San Diego police spokesman.
A 15-year-old was arrested in Escondido when officers from an Escondido crime-suppression force spotted the stolen car and were able to trace the driver to his home Thursday evening. The stolen car was not with the youth, but he did admit the robberies, Robinson said.
Friday morning, Escondido police spotted the stolen car again and arrested the 13-year-old driver and a 14-year-old passenger on suspicion of multiple robberies.
All three were sent to Juvenile Hall and are also suspected of robbing at gunpoint a man at a University Avenue automated teller machine near 65th Street, and taking a purse containing $20 from a woman in Fashion Valley on Wednesday night.
