High-Speed Train on First Run in Spain

SEVILLE, Spain — This country’s new high-speed train, nicknamed “Bird,” was cheered by crowds as it pulled into Seville on Tuesday after covering the 290 miles from Madrid in two hours and 55 minutes on its inaugural run.
The train, which reached speeds of up to 155 m.p.h. on its first run, starts commercial services next Tuesday.
