Litton Industries Inc.’s Aero Products unit in Moorpark said it was chosen to provide advanced navigation equipment for a new commercial jetliner being developed by Russia.
The deal is Litton’s first major aircraft navigation contract with the new Commonwealth of Independent States that was formed from the former Soviet Union.
Although no estimate of the contract’s dollar value was disclosed, Litton said the award represents the potential production of 2,000 navigation units to equip 400 of the four-engine, 375-passenger jetliners.
Litton was selected by Rockwell International Corp.’s Collins Air Transport subsidiary, and Litton’s products will be integrated into Rockwell Collins’ cockpit avionics.
