Bechtel Checks Mexico’s Pipelines: In the wake of an explosion caused by a gasoline leak that killed more than 200 people in Guadalajara last month, the San Francisco-based engineering firm has been hired to evaluate the safety of Mexico’s petroleum distribution systems. The value of the contract was not disclosed. A preliminary report of the study, which will be conducted in conjunction with the Mexican Petroleum Institute, is scheduled for completion in 90 days.
