Digital to Sell Intel Supercomputers: Digital Equipment Corp., trying to offer a mix of machines in the expensive supercomputer market, announced that it will sell models made by Intel Corp. Digital, based in Maynard, Mass., already markets supercomputers from Cray Research Inc. and MasPar Computer Corp. Digital expects to begin shipping the Intel machines later this year. Prices on the computers can range up to several million dollars. Ed Masi, head of the supercomputer division for Santa Clara-based Intel, said the agreement will help extend massively parallel computing into more markets worldwide while tapping into Digital’s expertise in software and networking.
