EAST COUNTY : Sunrise Highway Now ‘Scenic Byway’

Sunrise Highway in East San Diego County on Thursday became the 99th strip of roadway in the nation to officially be dedicated a “National Scenic Byway.”
The 24-mile segment winds through miles of the Cleveland National Forest and the Anza Borrego Desert State Park.
The highway is notable for its oak- and pine-filled forests, high-country meadows and chaparral.
