FULLERTON : City to Hire a Firm for Manager Search
- Share via
The City Council has voted unanimously to hire an executive search firm to select candidates to replace retiring City Manager William C. Winter.
City Council members and staff will interview representatives from Ralph Anderson & Associates, Sacramento; John Shannon & Associates, also of Sacramento; Norm Roberts & Associates, Los Angeles, and Hughes, Heiss & Associates, San Mateo, on May 29.
A decision on which firm to hire should be made at the June 2 council meeting, said Mark Flannery, Fullerton’s personnel director.
Flannery said hiring a firm to conduct the search for Winter’s replacement should cost the cash-strapped city between $15,000 and $20,000.
“The consensus of the council is that it will be money well spent because the position is so essential,” Flannery said.
Winter is not scheduled to retire until Aug. 13 but the city would like to have a mew manager selected by that time.
Winter, 56, announced his retirement last week. He began working for the city of Fullerton in 1972, serving as assistant city administrator. He was named city manager in 1979.
