The May 2 Los Angeles Philharmonic concert at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, canceled because of the riots in Los Angeles, will not be rescheduled, officials at the sponsoring Orange County Philharmonic Society announced Tuesday. Ticket-holders may receive refunds or exchange tickets for a concert in the society’s 1992-93 season. Information: (714) 553-2422.
The Laguna Art Museum has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Institute of Museum Services, a federal agency. The one-year, unrestricted grant will be used to expand the museum’s exhibitions and education programs.
The University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach will hold its eighth annual Teachers’ Summer Institute June 22-25. “Art Talk for Educators/Seing the Story: Cross-Cultural Expressions in the Visual Arts” introduces K-12 teachers to art vocabulary and shows them how to incorporate local art resources into the school curriculum. The institute, which runs each day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the university, includes workshops as well as excursions to museums, galleries, artists’ studios and alternative art spaces in Southern California. Two semester units of extension credit are available. Registration is limited to 30 participants. Fee: $120. The Royal Danish Ballet is seeking 30 children (15 girls and 15 boys), aged 8-13, and nine men to fill dancing and non-dancing roles for performances of Bournonville’s “Napoli,” June 9-14 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
