California IN BRIEF : YREKA : Wildfire May Be Contained Today

Firefighters who have contained a deliberately set wildfire that burned almost 1,000 acres of timber are hoping for complete control by tonight. Mike Johnson, spokesman for the California Department of Forestry, gave no details on the fire except to say it was arson. About 650 firefighters are battling the blaze in Garvey Gulch, about six miles north of Yreka.
