Philippine Volcano Erupts

BACOLOD, Philippines — The Mt. Canlaon volcano erupted Wednesday, spewing ash and debris over a wide swath of Negros Island but posing no immediate danger to residents. No evacuation was ordered for the estimated 60,000 people who live near the 8,135-foot volcano, about 300 miles southeast of Manila.
