North Pole Ski Team Falls 20 Miles Short

OTTAWA — A Russian and a Canadian, who tried to become the first team to ski unaided to the North Pole and back, came within 20 miles of the pole before being forced to turn back Sunday, an expedition organizer said Monday.
Canadian engineer Richard Weber, 33, and Russian physician Mikhail Malakhov, 37, are now en route back to base camp in northern Canada, expedition organizer Liane Benoit said.
