Mexico Lifts Its Ban on Actions by U.S. Drug Agents

MEXICO CITY — Mexico on Wednesday temporarily lifted its ban on the activities of U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents in Mexico.
The Foreign Ministry said the ban, announced Monday in reaction to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing U.S. abduction abroad of criminal suspects, will be lifted while talks take place with the United States to review the U.S.-Mexican extradition treaty.
“The government of Mexico has decided temporarily to allow bilateral (drugs) cooperation to continue,” the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry decided to allow cooperation in order to maintain existing joint operations.
