La Puente : Business Fees Revised
The City Council last week ended months of friction with several local merchants by changing the annual business license fee.
The major revision in the fee structure was the elimination of a special $105 charge enacted last year to cover the cost of processing business license applications. Merchants had complained that the fee burdened their businesses and discouraged new enterprises from coming to La Puente.
The council also revised the basic fee for the license, setting it at $50 plus $5 per employee. The basic rate had been $30, plus a sliding-scale charge per employee.
