Japan’s Trade Surplus Rises: The country’s trade surplus with the world jumped 24% in June, the 18th straight month the gap was bigger than a year earlier, the government reported. Japan’s surplus with the United States was up 18% from a year earlier, to $3.14 billion, the Finance Ministry said. For the first half of 1992, Japan’s total trade surplus was a record $49.03 billion, up 52.4% from the same period of 1991.
