BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Vice President Dan Quayle said Sunday he will not relinquish his spot on the Republican ticket and the question is a “closed issue.”
“The President has never wavered on this issue, in public or in private. The only people who are bringing this up are my opponents and the media,” Quayle said after a speech to 3,700 people at the Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
Bush insisted last week that Quayle would be on the ticket this fall.
