Tekelec said its second-quarter profit plunged 85% from a year earlier despite a 10% increase in revenue.
The Calabasas-based company, which makes telecommunications testing equipment, said net income in the quarter ended June 30 dropped to $211,000 from $1.42 million a year earlier. Its revenue climbed to $15.3 million from $14 million.
The latest earnings “were impacted by lower results from our international subsidiaries” along with higher spending for product development and marketing, Tekelec said.
Tekelec’s profit for the first half of 1992 tumbled 76% from a year earlier, to $688,000 from $2.88 million, and its six-month revenue rose 7%, to $29.3 million from $27.3 million.
