The California Junior Classical League will play host to the 50th annual national convention Sunday through Friday at San Diego State University.
The six-day convention will include competition in five areas: academics, arts, athletics, forensics and literature.
Noted author Colleen McCullough (“The Thorn Birds,” “First Man in Rome” and “The Grass Crown”) will speak.
The JCL of University High School will play a major role in the production of the convention. Of the 1,200 delegates from 34 states, the Irvine high school will be sending 50.
“University High School and other Southern California chapters will be helping with the pre-convention business, registration and the bazaar,” said Josh Davis, Latin teacher and JCL adviser at the school.
