SIMI VALLEY : Softball Game With South L.A. Planned
- Share via
In an unusual community service project sparked by the Los Angeles riots, South Los Angeles will challenge Simi Valley today in a softball competition dubbed “America’s Game.”
Ten busloads of Los Angeles residents are expected at Simi Valley’s Rancho Santa Susana Park, 5005 Los Angeles Ave., for the 1 p.m. game. The competition pits a group of police officers and community leaders from Simi Valley against the softball team for KJLH-FM, a South Los Angeles radio station owned by pop star Stevie Wonder.
The game, organized by Simi Valley resident Susan Davenport, is designed to erase misconceptions and improve relations between the two communities.
