A fire of suspicious origin at Prairie Elementary School in Northridge--the second in as many weeks--damaged the faculty area early Sunday morning at the closed campus at 17930 Prairie St., investigators reported.
Los Angeles city firefighters responded to the blaze at 12:30 a.m., officials said.
Preliminary estimates place damage at about $35,000, said Herb Graham, director of police for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Graham added that the district is investigating not only this fire but one that caused about $20,000 in damage last week at the school, which he said is unused and boarded up.
