Burlington Lands Boeing Deal: Burlington Air Express, the international air-freight carrier, said Monday that it has won a three-year domestic contract with Boeing Co. of Seattle.

Officials at Burlington and Boeing, who have done business together for eight years, would not comment on the contract’s value. They would say only that Irvine-based Burlington outbid other major carriers such as Airborne Freight Corp., Emery Worldwide, Federal Express Corp. and United Parcel Service Inc.

The contract, effective Thursday, calls for Burlington to provide Boeing with overnight delivery of airplane parts to its various U.S. facilities as well as to domestic airports where repair and maintenance of Boeing aircraft are needed. The parts vary in size, from as large as a jet engine or wing flap to as small as a bolt.

David L. Marshall, Burlington’s chairman and chief executive, said the contract is part of the company’s strategy to forge a firm partnership with clients by tailoring its services to a customer’s needs.
