WORLD IN BRIEF : IRAQ : U.S. Will Guarantee U.N. Team’s Access

President Bush pledged that the United States will guarantee that U.N. inspectors have access to suspected weapons sites in Iraq. Bush spoke to reporters during a campaign stop in Colorado, hours after Iraq declared it would not allow U.N. arms inspectors into government ministries because it “would hurt Iraq’s sovereignty and independence.” A new U.N. inspection team, due to fly to Baghdad today, would be the first to enter Iraq since the fruitless search of the Agriculture Ministry last month ended a three-week standoff with the United Nations.
