“WORLDS.” Dusan Bogdanovic, guitar. M-A Recordings M009A. The first half of this disc passes pleasantly enough, with a four-movement “Jazz Sonata,” “Cinq Miniatures Printanieres” and some improvisations. Indeed, too pleasantly, in blandly vernacular styles presented with little urgency. Then we hit a set of pieces for “gamelitar,” as Bogdanovic calls his prepared guitar, and real adventure begins. The sounds are fresh and exploited with intelligence. The playing is superbly controlled throughout, even in the more raucous music. There is also a bonus track, a driving flamenco nuevo “Pieces of a Puzzle” from fellow guitarist Barry Wedgle.
