DENVER — U.S. agents, using military aircraft to monitor a drug ring’s activities, seized more than a ton of cocaine and arrested 10 people, according to a federal indictment unsealed here Friday.
The accused drug traffickers, allegedly members of the Cali cocaine cartel in Colombia, first smuggled the drug to cities along the U.S.-Mexican border, then to Denver and finally, using tractor-trailer trucks, sent it to food stores in New York and Los Angeles for local sales.
The federal indictment lists 13 suspects, mostly Colombians. Ten are in custody, two are at large and one was killed two weeks ago in New Jersey by rival traffickers, a DEA spokesman said.
