DIGEST : Bryans Place 3rd, 5th in Tennis Event

Mike and Bob Bryan of Camarillo finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 14-and-under junior national tennis tournament Saturday at McFarlin Tennis Center in San Antonio, Tex.

Mike beat Nick Crowell of Amarillo, Tex., 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, and his twin beat Alex Kim of Potomac, Md., 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Jacques Salberg, a distance runner from Muir High, will attend Glendale College this fall. Salberg was third in the 3,200 meters in the state high school track championships in June in a personal-best 9 minutes 4.19 seconds. Last fall, he placed second in the Southern Section Division II cross-country meet.
