Nevada Las Vegas officials said basketball player J.R. Rider’s eligibility apparently will not be affected by a $15,000 loan from a sports agent to Rider’s roommate. According to UNLV Athletic Director Jim Weaver, the living arrangement between Rider and former Rebel academic adviser Ron Allen might raise questions.
Allen received a $15,000 loan last week from Jack Mills, a Boulder, Colo., sports agent. The loan raised concern among UNLV officials because of Allen’s close ties to Rider, who will be playing his senior season at UNLV this year.
