Atari Reports Second-Quarter Loss: Atari Corp. lost $39.7 million during the second quarter, largely due to charges stemming from a reorganization. The loss, equal to 69 cents per share, compares to earnings of $30.4 million or 53 cents per share in the second quarter of 1991. The 1991 earnings included $40.9 million in proceeds from the sale of a Taiwan manufacturing plant. Sales for the quarter were $23.3 million, down from $49.2 million for the same period last year. Atari said the results included charges of $34.1 million in operating income related to reorganizing the company.
