OUTLOOK
For the third consecutive year, Craven enters the season with an unproven quarterback. It didn’t seem to matter much the past two years--the Mariners still made the playoffs both times--so it probably won’t be a major crisis this season, either. The two main quarterback candidates are DePippo, last year’s backup to Dan Murray (who has graduated), and Wolfson, promoted from junior varsity. “We are still undecided which boy is going to be (the quarterback),” said Craven, one of the all-time leaders in county coaching victories. “They’re both going to get a lot of playing time early.” Craven said Pacifica has a lot of question marks on offense but features a solid defense. “Our linebacker corps will be quite good with Vince Murry and Matagi Ala,” Craven said. “They’ll also split time at fullback for us.”
