Leslie’s Poolmart, a Chatsworth-based retailer of swimming pool supplies, said it paid about $2 million in completing a previously announced acquisition of a smaller rival in North Hollywood.
In addition to buying all of the outstanding stock of Sandy’s Pool Supply, which had sales of about $15 million for its fiscal year that ended May 31, Leslie’s said it refinanced $2.5 million of Sandy’s debt. Sandy’s was half-owned by Phil Leslie, who co-founded Leslie’s nearly 30 years ago and was its chief executive until 1988.
Leslie’s Poolmart, which last year had sales of $82.6 million, operates 130 stores in 26 states, along with a mail-order catalogue service. Sandy’s had 20 outlets in California, Texas, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
