RB Furniture Liquidator Settles Charges: The liquidator of the RB Furniture chain has agreed to pay $105,000 to settle false advertising charges, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said. In addition, the now-defunct furniture chain has agreed to pay $35,000 to settle similar charges against it, pending bankruptcy court approval. Liquidator Gene Rosenberg & Associates of Newington, Conn., and Irvine-based RB Furniture each denied any wrongdoing. Andrea S. Ordin, attorney for RB, said the defunct chain settled charges to avoid the expense of a trial. Deputy District Atty. Thomas A. Papageorge said he hoped the unusual size of the settlement would prevent further abuses.
