La Puente : Lots Rezoned for Condos
A measure that would allow three houses to be replaced by a condominium complex was tentatively approved Tuesday by the City Council.
The council voted 4 to 1 to change the zoning of two adjacent lots in the 15700 block of Fairgrove Avenue from single-family to multiple-family housing.
Although no plans have been submitted to the city, developer Kurt Kreger said he intends to build an 11-unit condominium complex on the lots.
Several residents protested, saying the potential increase in density would create traffic problems and place a greater burden on the Sheriff’s Department.
Councilman Manuel Garcia voted against the proposal without comment.
A final vote is scheduled for the council’s Sept. 22 meeting.
