A draft plan on trail development and visitor use of Zuma and Trancas canyons in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is available for public review, the National Park Service has announced.
The draft plan presents three alternatives for visitor use and proposes programs aimed at protecting the canyons’ natural and cultural resources. Two alternatives call for development of trail heads off Kanan and Encinal Canyon roads.
Comments are due by Oct. 26, and a public hearing will also be held at an as-yet unspecified date in October, Park Service officials said.
Written comments may be sent to Superintendent, Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, 30401 Agoura Road, Suite 100, Agoura Hills, Calif. 91301.
Copies of the draft plan may be obtained at the National Recreation Area visitor center at the same address, or at public libraries in Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Ventura and West Hollywood.
