LOS ANGELES : Council Backs Discounts for Convention Center
- Share via
The City Council granted preliminary approval Wednesday to offering discounts on Convention Center rentals in an effort to make the facility more competitive.
Rental fees currently range between $1,000 and $100,000, depending on the size of the group and the space rented.
Michael Collins, spokesman for the Visitor’s Bureau, said the proposal was made several months before the riots and was not related to efforts to increase tourism after the spring violence. Instead, the discounts are hoped to boost what has long been considered a lag in national convention booking in Los Angeles, he said.
