BUENA PARK — A 17-year-old Buena Park youth was shot once in the leg Friday afternoon as he walked with a friend south of Buena Park High School, police said.
Paul Park and an unidentified 16-year-old friend told police they heard a popping noise about 11:30 a.m. as they walked near Orangethorpe Avenue and Campus Drive. Park looked down when he felt a pain in his upper left thigh and realized he had been shot, said Lt. James Schoales.
Park and his friend told police they did not see a gunman and did not know from which direction the shot came. Park’s friend drove him to Garden Grove Hospital. Hospital officials would not disclose Park’s condition.
Doctors called police, who said they did not find any witnesses. Investigators did not have anyone in custody in connection with the shooting, Schoales said.
