Oxnard Woman Raped Outside County Hospital

An Oxnard woman visiting her sick child at Ventura County Medical Center was raped when she stepped outside for a cigarette, Ventura police said Saturday.
The 30-year-old woman told police that she was sitting on a bench outside the emergency room about 11:30 p.m. Friday when a man approached her. The woman tried to get away from the man by walking to some nearby portable buildings, but the man followed her, forced her to the ground and raped her, police said.
The man then took the woman’s wallet and fled, police said.
Police said they found a suspect in a vehicle parked near the hospital. Jose Negrete-Solis, 30, of Camarillo was being held at the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of rape, robbery and kidnaping.
