Pollution Research Expects Relocation to Hurt Profit

Pollution Research and Control Corp. in Glendale said its third-quarter sales and earnings will suffer “a negative impact” from an expected two- or three-week loss in production while it relocates part of its manufacturing operations.
If production is delayed as long as three weeks, losses from the work stoppage could total as much as $450,000, the company said.
Pollution Research, which makes air pollution monitoring devices, said the city of Glendale is requiring it to leave one of its two adjacent facilities there because the building is in violation of several codes and the landlord never obtained an occupancy permit for Pollution Research to move in.
As a result, Pollution Research said it is moving its administrative offices to the other Glendale building, and is moving most of its manufacturing operations to another facility in Los Angeles. The company’s headquarters will remain in Glendale.
A.E. Gosselin Jr., Pollution Research’s president and chief executive, said the company plans to file a lawsuit against the owner of the Glendale facility it is leaving, to try to recover any losses caused by the relocation.
