Dentist Denies Guilt in Molestation Case

An Oxnard dentist pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a charge that he molested a 12-year-old girl during an examination in his office.
Craig K. Alhanati, 34, entered the plea in Ventura County Municipal Court and was ordered to return Oct. 7 for a preliminary hearing. Judge Art Gutierrez allowed Alhanati to remain free on $100,000 bail.
Oxnard police arrested Alhanati Sept. 4 at his office on Saviers Road. They said a 12-year-old patient had complained that the dentist had fondled her several times during an exam the day before.
Alhanati’s attorney, Rick Chaidez, asked the judge to postpone the hearing for 30 days while his client undergoes treatment at a mental hospital.
