COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DAILY REPORT : USC : Huskies’ Barry Sidelined
- Share via
Jay Barry, a starter at tailback in Washington’s first three games, will sit out Saturday’s game against USC at Seattle because of a broken toe, Coach Don James said Monday. The Huskies, though, retain firepower at the position.
Beno Bryant, although bothered by a hamstring injury during the first month of the season, was the Huskies’ leading rusher last season, averaging six yards per carry. In a 14-3 victory over USC at the Coliseum, he ran for a personal-best 158 yards and two touchdowns. The Huskies’ top rusher this season has been sophomore Napoleon Kaufman, who has run for 259 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 10.4 yards.
