COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Gunderson Leads Chapman in Volleyball

Jenny Gunderson’s 14 kills and 10 blocks helped the Chapman women’s volleyball team defeat Cal State San Bernardino in a California Collegiate Athletic Assn. opener Wednesday at Chapman.
Heather McKinley added 13 kills and 15 digs for the Panthers (12-5), ranked 15th in the nation in NCAA Division II. Chapman won, 15-12, 6-15, 15-11, 15-2.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
Christ College Irvine 3, Claremont-Mudd 2--Tami Johnson had 17 kills and Lori Funk had 11 for host Christ College Irvine (2-9), which won, 15-4, 9-15, 15-17, 15-8, 15-9.
In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:
Westmont 6, Christ College Irvine 0--Jay Fischer scored four goals to lead visiting Westmont (6-3), ranked fifth in the NAIA. Westmont outshot CCI, 29-6. Christ College is 2-8.
In nonconference men’s soccer:
UC Santa Barbara 5, UC Irvine 4 (OT)--Lance Nakamitsu scored on a penalty kick with eight minutes remaining in overtime to give the Gauchos the victory at Santa Barbara.
Biola 2, Southern California College 0--Despite being outshot 19-9, Biola scored a goal in each half for its first victory of the season. Southern California College is 6-4.
