Olympic 10,000-meter bronze medalist Lynn Jennings sprinted the final 50 meters to win the Freihofer’s Run for Women, a five-kilometer race at Syracuse, N.Y., in 15 minutes 42 seconds. Kathleen Franey of Newton, Mass., was second in 15:45.
In the masters’ race, Carol Urish-McLatchie of Houston won in 16:55, placing 15th in an overall field of 500 to tie the American masters record.
Finishing just behind McLatchie in the age 40-plus race was Nancy Oshier of Rush, N.Y., in 18:15.
