Petko Throws 5 Touchdown Passes for Valencia

LA MIRADA — Quarterback Rob Petko threw five touchdown passes to lead Valencia to a 49-20 nonleague victory over La Mirada Friday night.
Tailback Chris Draft scored on catches of 11 and 29 yards and made a 19-yard touchdown run. Jermaine Gray scored twice, catching touchdown passes of 29 and 23 yards.
Valencia (3-2), usually known for its running game, totaled 208 rushing yards, and Petko contributed 218 in the air, completing 10 of 12 passes. The Tigers led at the half, 28-13, and limited La Mirada (2-3) to one first down and 64 total yards in the second half.
Ryan Hura scored the game’s first touchdown on a three-yard run on La Mirada’s first possession. With Valencia leading, 14-7, Randy Rivera brought the Matadors within one on a four-yard touchdown pass from Mike Moschetti, but the extra point was blocked.
Valencia pulled ahead, 35-13, before El Mirada scored again.
