British Airways Acquires Regional Carrier: British Airways will acquire troubled regional airline Dan-Air in exchange for assuming owner Davies & Newman Holding’s liabilities, the companies announced in London. The size of the liabilities was not immediately disclosed. Dan-Air will halt its charter operations, sell 26 of its 38 aircraft and expects to let go between 1,400 and 1,600 of its 2,000 employees. Destinations served by Dan-Air will be cut from 28 to 12.
