COMMUNITY COLLEGE SOCCER ROUNDUP : Hawks’ Goal Helps OCC Upset Irvine Valley

Mike Hawks scored the game-winning goal with five minutes remaining and Orange Coast upset Irvine Valley, 3-2, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer match Tuesday at Orange Coast.
P.J. Polowski scored a goal with 11 minutes left to tie the score, 2-2, for Orange Coast (8-6-1, 5-4 in conference), which scored all its goals in the second half.
Shandiz Houshmand scored two goals for Irvine Valley (10-4-4, 5-3-2), which entered the match in a three-way tie for the conference lead.
In another Orange Empire Conference match:
Fullerton 1, Golden West 0--Jayson Ochs scored the match’s only goal with six minutes remaining for Fullerton (10-4-5, 6-2-2), which remained in first place in the conference. Goalkeeper Jason Corder had 15 saves for Golden West (5-10-3, 1-6-2).
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Cypress 6, Golden West 0--Brandi Yates scored three goals and Laurie Wilson had one goal and three assists for visiting Cypress (13-1, 10-0), which clinched the conference championship.
Wilson scored her 18th goal this season, breaking her single-season record of 17 set last season. Golden West is 0-10, 0-9.
Palomar 1, Orange Coast 0--Goalkeeper Lisa Bernhard had three saves for Orange Coast (6-8-2, 4-5-1). Palomar is 3-5-1 in conference.
