Allergan Completes Sale to Competitor: Irvine-based Allergan Inc. said Wednesday that it has finalized the sale of its U.S. and South America contact-lens business to a competitor. The sale of the business to Ocular Sciences in San Francisco was announced in April. Company officials said that Allergan was selling off the segment of its operations because it is too competitive and because the company wants to concentrate on its line of pharmaceuticals for eyes and skin. The sale does not involve Allergan’s contact-lens business in Asia and Europe.
