In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
Cal State Long Beach 3, UC Irvine 1--Long Beach (21-1, 12-0 in the conference), ranked third in NCAA Division I, beat Irvine (13-11, 6-9), 12-15, 15-1, 15-9, 15-13. It was the first time since the 1989 season that the Anteaters won a game against the 49ers. Irvine led the final game, 13-11, before Long Beach rallied.
