Cerritos : Academic Decathlon to Be Saturday at Valley Christian
- Share via
Valley Christian High, a Cerritos private school, will play host to the private-school portion of the county’s annual Academic Decathlon. In the all-day event Saturday, teams of young scholars will compete against teams from other schools in written and oral tests on a variety of subjects and skills.
The highlight of the day will be the SuperQuiz, which is also the only contest open to the public. In the SuperQuiz, the high school students write answers to questions read aloud by moderators. The scores of each team are displayed after every question amid the cheers of supporters from the various schools. Visitors wishing to see the SuperQuiz should get to the school gym by 3 p.m. The school is at 10818 Artesia Blvd., between Studebaker Road and Palo Verde Avenue. An awards ceremony will follow the SuperQuiz.
Fifteen schools will compete at Valley Christian, including St. John Bosco of Bellflower, Pius X of Downey and Brethren Christian of Cypress.
