Constitution Protects Religion, Not Zealots

Your column today (“Lou Isn’t About to Buy Church, State Separation,” Dianne Klein column, Oct. 13) was excellent! It’s time more was said about these religious zealots who would dearly love to take over the U.S. government and legislate their dogma into law. You did a good job in pointing out that our Constitution was meant to prevent religious persecution, not to further it, despite what these zealots think.

I’m sure you will receive a bunch of hate letters (from so-called religious people) because of your column, but I’m sure that the vast majority of our people feel as you and I do. Most of them won’t write to you, so don’t be discouraged when you are attacked. You are right, and they are wrong! Keep up the good work!
