Linda Taylor Ferguson; Attorney, Director of Young Black Scholars

Linda Taylor Ferguson, 44, an attorney who specialized in public-interest law and who also was director of the Young Black Scholars, which offers tutors, mentors and specialized enrichment classes to black youngsters who need assistance to qualify for admission to California’s universities. She also was a director of the Watts office of the Legal Aid Foundation and taught at UC Irvine and Cal State Long Beach. In 1979, she was named Lawyer of the Year by the National Conference of Black Lawyers. In Los Angeles on Nov. 3 of cancer.
