ELECTIONS : Clinton Won by Landslide Throughout the Westside

TIMES STAFF WRITER

It was a bad day for George Bush, even in Ronald Reagan’s own back yard.

In the posh Bel-Air precinct that the former president calls home, Bill Clinton scored a landslide victory over President Bush.

Reagan’s neighbors gave the Democratic challenger 377 votes, or 61.1%--far greater than Clinton’s statewide percentage of 46%. The Republican chief executive drew just 141 votes, or 22.9%, on Reagan’s home turf. Independent Ross Perot polled 95 votes, or 15.4%.

The news wasn’t any better across most of the Westside, traditionally a Democratic bastion. Clinton garnered a whopping 80.1% of the vote in West Hollywood, 65.7% in Beverly Hills, 64.3% in Santa Monica, 61.8% in Culver City, 55.9% in Marina del Rey and 48.4% in Malibu.

The president-elect also carried every Westside council district in the city of Los Angeles. The Clinton vote ranged from a high of 88.7% in Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas’ Crenshaw-area district to a low of 60.1% in Councilman Marvin Braude’s district, which includes Pacific Palisades and Brentwood.

Here’s how the presidential voting went in various Westside communities and in Westside council districts of Los Angeles:
